Bitter Victory!
The final day of CRYPTID fulfillment is at hand.
I just mailed the last package, officially closing the CALL OF THE CRYPTID fulfillment campaign. All accounts are settled, with many new readers joining the adventure after our release party at Baltimore Comic Con 2023.
We sold out both days in Baltimore. The first issue of CRYPTID is a hit!
Really I am thrilled… but mailing out this last book feels sort of hollow, you know. When I looked at that last address, that last zip code, I felt the end of an era. Like one of my children had grown, and was leaving the house. Creating a book campaign for an audience is a journey; the experience has many twists and turns, with many little victories and tiny defeats. Now one journey has come to its end.
There is a sudden silence.
Here is the fulcrum of my creative life. Attaining that sweet spot right in the middle. I have just successfully completed one project, and now I stand breathlessly on the precipice of the next.
Because, before I can catch my breath, I remember.
